Description: The collection of papers in this monograph were the result of a call for papers issued by the SOA’s Committee on Post Retirement Needs and Risks in partnership with the Long Term Care Section to explore the impact of long‐term care needs and expense on retirement security from a variety of aspects. The papers help expand thinking on how long‐term care events impact families as well as approaches to mitigating the impact of these events and related issues. Description: The SOA, with SCOR as the researcher, completed an experience study of post-level term (PLT) lapse and mortality. In the first part of this session, the presenters will cover the key findings of the traditional analysis regarding the shock lapse, the PLT lapse and mortality experience. The remainder of the session will focus on the results of the predictive modeling, which will provide further insights into policyholder behavior in the post-level term period.

The presenters will focus on solutions that affect both the client experience, the productivity of the agent and the efficiency of the life company. Some InsurTech companies that have developed solutions across the value chain - beginning with front-end solutions to improve the productivity and expertise of agents. These include cloud-based product illustration, advanced sales concept systems, financial calculators, e-applications and e-signature technology. Solutions that improve the efficiency of policy underwriting and issue include automated underwriting systems, expert requirement systems and underwriter workbenches. Finally, solutions that automate inforce policy management and compliance include anti-money laundering AI systems, in-force illustration systems to satisfy annual statement compliance and claims processing systems. There is a race to gain competitive advantage by getting to a digitally transformed future first.
